Are you a mom and do you have a blog?

Are you wondering “how the heck are you supposed to do it all?!?!”

From raising your kids, laundry, cooking, hubby time, creating content for your blog, promote your posts on all the social media platforms, send emails to your subscribers, create an ebook, create a course…

I know! This is totally insane!!!

How the eff (Sorry for the wording part – but this is the reality 🙂 ) are you supposed to do EVERYTHING a mom needs to do and also create/have a successful blog?! In the name of god, HOW?!?!

The reality of being a full time mom and mom blogger

If you are here to think that I have a MAGIC tip that will help you do EVERYTHING and also have an AWESOME blog….well I am sorry to ruin your expectations! Read the entire posts to understand what exactly I am talking about.

What you MUST know about being a Full-time mom and also a “mom blogger”

Planning the day as a “mom blogger”…

It’s not a secret that having a plan will help you reach your success FASTER than without having a plan at all…right?

Well…

Does this sound familiar to you…

You start your blog and you plan everything out…just like it is recommended in the “A-B-C bible of planning your day right as a mom and a “mom blogger” ” And you write EVERYTHING that needs to be done that day…

You also create a plan for the months to come…

For example, you say “I will start waking up early and work on the blog for 2 hours until my babies/kids wake up”… “I will put my kids to sleep at 8 pm every day and work on the blog till 12 am”…

But then….

…Your baby wakes up in the middle of the night…a few times…and you find yourself hitting the “Snooze” button for 2 hours!

Your kids fall asleep late…and you are just too exhausted…all you think about is the laundry that needs to be done, the dishes that needs to be washed, the floor that needs to be clean…and all of the other “mama” tasks that mamas have.

Yep, that’s how my day is too…it’s CRAZY!

I have a plan (for my life and blog)…and I try my best to follow it!

In the beginning, I felt  VERY frustrated…and I worked on the blog like CRAZY so that it will grow fast…

but in reality…. life changes our “plan”…

I want you to understand that if your plans don’t work out as you planned them to be, don’t give up on your blog or on your precious memories with your little ones! 🙂 (Yes, at the beginning, I was terrible with EVERYTHING! Because I knew that I had SO MUCH to be done with the blog and the house, I wasn’t fun to be with or even a happy loving mom…I was simply frustrated and stressed out!)

I want you to know that you MUST enjoy your blogging journey in order to stay sane.

It’s also very IMPORTANT (for your kids) that you will b a fun, happy and loving mom as you ALWAYS were! 😉

Please don’t panic if you told your blog readers that you are going to post “2 new posts a week, every Monday and Friday” and all you really could do is barely write even 1 new posts once a week or two.

Don’t panic if you see fewer page views for a couple of days because you didn’t really have the time to put into promoting your blog or to work on your blog.

It’s o.k! We are all human!!

And you are a MOM!

You have much more on your plate than other bloggers that are single or that aren’t moms yet…

Just REMEMBER that YOU are AWESOME! 🙂

You are a FULL-time mom…and you are also a mom blogger!

Now, how cool is that?! 🙂

I want to share with you some tips that might help you with your blog

Tip 1 – Remember that blogging is a journey… a long journey!

Always remember that blogging takes time! And a LOT of effort and HARD work! Really! You need to work your B*TT off in order to get results with it! (income, subscribers, page views…)

Enjoy the journey! Don’t try to do and learn EVERYTHING all at once!

Don’t try to do and learn EVERYTHING all at once! Because you can’t! Your time is limited and there will always be something new to learn! So, don’t burn yourself out and try to learn everything!

Take it easy!

Seriously – One day at a time!

Each day will bring new AWESOME things with it….If you are going through a tough day where everything seems like hitting you in the face…then leave the blog for a few days.

Take a day or two off…then come back fresh and always remind yourself your WHY! 🙂 why you really decided to create your blog.

Tip 2 – It’s o.k. if you didn’t do the laundry/dishes/clean the house

If you found yourself working a few good hours on your blog because you had that “special” moment where everything just was AWESOME…you finally could easily write a new post, you answered emails, you talked with other successful bloggers….

And now, after it all worked out for you and you had a great time working on your blog, it’s late and all you want to do is take a shower and head to bed….but there is dishes/laundry and the house is a mess….

It’s o.k. to just do what you need to do…take a shower and head to bed!

Trust me, the dishes/ laundry and the mess in the house will be here tomorrow as well 🙂 Even if you do clean everything….tomorrow is a new day…and the house will get messed again!

because let’s admit this girls, we have babies/kids/toddlers…and the beautify of it is that there will ALWAYS be something that we will need to do in order to keep our house organized.

So, please don’t feel bad about yourself and think that you are a terrible mother just because you were too tired to do all the housework after you worked on your blog.

Tip 3 – When you do have the time to work on your blog…work on the blog!

During the day, if you are a full-time mama and you have your kids with you ALL day, try to give your kid’s something to play with, and make sure that it will keep them busy for a good 20-30 minutes. (for example kinetic sand, coloring book, lego….)

And before you start working on the blog task, make sure that you know EXACTLY what you need to do…

create a new image for Pinterest, brainstorm new blog post ideas, learn something new from the course you bought….

When you know exactly what needs to be done and your kids can be occupied for 20 minutes…you CAN get the job done, honey! 🙂

o.k. mama’s I am going to sum up this post because it’s getting too long 🙂

Summery:

Don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t get everything done! Everything is o.k.!

You are an AWESOME mom! You are also an AWESOME blogger…

…because you are a “mom blogger”!;)

If you are a new mom blogger and you are trying to figure out what are the exact steps you need to take in order to create a successful and profitable blog then you might be interested in my new course “Grow Your Blog

The course is straight and to the point so that you won’t waste your precious time on trying on figuring out what you need to do next… (this is very IMPORTANT for all the busy mama’s out there! 🙂 )

I hope that this post helped you and that you understand that you can totally do this!

Take it slow….and just enjoy the moment!

Especially the ones with your kids!

The time flies…and the precious little ones….grow! So don’t stress yourself too much about trying to balance your mama life and your blog life!

  1. Thanks for this! I have been struggling this week trying to balance it all. And first and foremost, I am a MOM! I don’t want my kiddos ever to feel less important because of blogging. And my house had gotten chaotic because i have been absorbed with running several different giveaways. It is definitely a journey and a steep learning curve, but in the end, i do love it!!! Come by and check out my blog too! http://www.makinghermama.com

  2. Awesome post! I had to learn to balance and be okay with letting go of some things to work on my blog. Yes, the sink will have some dishes in it sometimes and that’s okay! I used to waste a lot of time nitpicking around the house instead of working on my blog, I was letting myself get distracted!

  3. It can be so challenging to balance blog work with mom “work.” Plus sleep! I’m pregnant, so I’m tired all the time anyway! 🙂 Thanks for sharing your perspective and advice on juggling it all!

  4. thanks for sending me your article as an encouragement! I’ve learned (first with my daughter, now with my son!) that kids definitely make you prioritize and triage tasks while they’re awake! I had loosened on this quite a bit wwhen it was just me and my oldest… now it’s time to tighten up again!

  5. Eva,

Your post is so true as a mom blogger. I find it so hard to fit everything I want in a day. Like right now, it’s spring and I want to do spring cleaning, but before I can do that I have to do all the regular chores like 3 loads of laundry, 3 loads of dishes, cook, sweep, clean up the living and more…grr..then I have to write posts and do client work! lots..

Thanks for your tips and giving mom bloggers a break!

  6. Oh my gosh. I could cry after reading this post! Ha! I went “live” with my blog two months ago, and I’m totally trying to do it all! I am a full-time mom with a three year old and a one year old. I can relate completely to the beginning of your journey. I’m exhausted, but I just keep telling myself that it will pay off! I am so happy that you responded to my request in the “Blog Your Way to Freedom” Facebook group! Your blog is exactly what I need!

    1. Awwww…I know…it ain’t easy for us full-time mama’s to toddlers! But…it is WORTH it! JUST KEEP ON GOING dear!!
